Petroleum Sales, Retail Account Representative

Position Summary

This petroleum industry, goal oriented closer will utilize proper lead qualification and their ability to influence decision makers at all levels of an organization, from owners and CEOs to front-line retail workers, in order to successfully close 10-year contracted business. Will develop a number of high potential prospects to guarantee future sales growth. Researches and collects data on prospective customers, determines sales potential then develops a targeted sales strategy for each customer. Develops and maintains long-term relationships with customers by determining and continuously meeting product and service needs.

Work Schedule: Typically works Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, but nights and weekend work may be required as necessary. The majority of work is performed in the field, within the designated territory while a lesser amount of time will be spent in the office.

Summary of Essential Job Duties

Sales – Consultative based sales in order to secure new, contracted retail business in an assigned territory through prospecting, cold calling B2B, networking and referrals.

Account Management – Actively manages existing accounts to maintain brand and image standards and increase business. Ensures all sales activities, communications, and opportunities are followed up and recorded in CRM in order to maintain accurate, detailed, and comprehensive knowledge of the potential of each prospect or account in within the assigned territory.

Required Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in sales and/or business development, preferably in the gas and oil industry.
  • A take charge attitude with a strong ethic/superior time management.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Customer-service oriented.

  • Superior interpersonal and presentation skills.

  • Work as a team player with other teams to ensure customer needs are met.

  • Valid Drivers license, safe driving record.

  • Able to read, write and speak English fluently. Must have professional writing skills.

  • Intermediate math skills.

  • Computer literate: Outlook, Excel and Word, CRM

  • Desirable traits include: self-starter, goal-oriented, responsible, outgoing, motivated, friendly, honest, reliable and conscientious.
